BAVARIA TOO OLD  
This is the letter sent to Adriatic Charter on 29/06/2025 of which I have received no reply, despite having followed up. Good morning, I am writing to report some problems unfortunately encountered during the rental of boat BACH from 21/06/2025 to 28/06/2025: • On 22/06/2025, having left the berth at around 07:00, after more than 2 hours of motoring (across the island of VRGADA), we had to return slowly to Sukosan marina due to a breakdown that caused a copious ingress of seawater into the engine compartment and also completely submerged the engine starting battery by more than 10 centimetres (it was not even replaced afterwards!). Given the copiousness of the ingress (about 200 litres per hour!), for more than 3 hours (time needed for the return), as there is no bilge pump installed in the engine compartment, helped by a crew member, I had to use a bailer and bucket to maintain and control the water level to prevent further problems. Replacement of the boat was refused; we had to wait almost 4 hours for the mechanic to arrive at around 3:45 pm, who completed the replacement of the anti-siphon with valve (this turned out to be the fault) at around 4:30 pm. We were thus able to set off again at around 5:00 pm, after repositioning some side panels of the engine compartment (not repositioned by the technical staff!), substantially losing a day of rental; • The WIFI router never worked and never allowed connection, even after carrying out the procedures indicated by the technical manager several times. The problem was also found during check-out; • The upright fridge never cooled food and the compressor overheated intensely, even the wooden walls of the containing compartment, forcing me to switch it off on the first day of use; • Both winch handles, heavily worn, were defective if not broken in the release system, causing continuous and worrying difficulties in their use; • The mainsheet was so short as to prevent full ease; • The self-tailing on all winches did not work properly; • The teak parts on deck, probably not cleaned for a long time, were very dirty and hygienically unsuitable for agreed use and I had to wash, clean and sanitise them by hand with seawater; • The steel swim ladder is too short (the last step reaches just below sea level) and narrow and does not allow easy use. I therefore kindly request: 1. partial refund of rental costs corresponding to non-use of the boat for one day (hire fee, tender engine, deposit cost, etc.); 2. full refund of the sum of €30.00 relating to the WIFI cost due to inability to use it; 3. refund of diesel costs corresponding to about 6 hours of navigation (out and back 6 hours * estimated hourly consumption of 5 = 30 litres * €1.70 per litre paid at marina in Sukosan = €51); 4. compensation for the inconvenience suffered.
