Sailing holiday in the Aeolian Islands  
We spent a week on holiday in the Aeolian Islands, chartering a 2016 Dufour 46 sailing yacht with 4 cabins and four bathrooms. We were two families with a total of three children, and in the last two days three friends joined us. Overall, with the islands being truly spectacular, the holiday was very nice. Unfortunately, however, I have to report some issues we absolutely did not expect. First and foremost the boat — although very comfortable both inside and out — showed clear signs of poor management and cleaning: the toilets, with electric discharge using the holding tank and overboard discharge system, were unusable because with every flush, even underway with the discharge open, they would back up with waste instead of water, making them far from hygienic and forcing us to disinfect constantly to avoid infections and to go ashore to reach sanitary facilities. This caused great discomfort for everyone — objectively, after many years of chartering and using our own boat, we had never encountered this. On delivery the first day we were given the linen kit which we made up ourselves on the beds, finding hair on the mattress covers. Furthermore, although only 10 years old, the boat showed signs of years of poor management and lack of cleaning — for example the bimini, sprayhood and bathroom walls/floors were very blackened. On the positive side, the staff who handed over the boat were very kind and professional, immediately offering to be contacted for any eventuality and giving us a bag of food for breakfast. Another aspect that really struck us negatively was the port of Marsala, which provides sanitary facilities in a container, only a small bar, and charter offices in small, old structures... more than a tourist marina it looks like an old shipyard surrounded by rubbish of every kind... which really makes you think, given the natural wonder of the sea and islands offered exclusively by that territory that port operators are supposed to manage. I'd like to stress that I don't normally leave negative reviews and that mine is only intended to help bring improvements to sailing yacht charter services in this splendid area.

Boat without refrigerator  
Although I had explicitly requested a check of the refrigerator functioning (see attached email), which should have contained medicines, the fridge never worked. I spent hours with a technician in Lipari without solving the problem and the result was a ruined holiday chasing anyone who could give us ice at every landing. I add the bow thruster not working, but advertised on the boat, and the cockpit light not working replaced with a bulb that was completely insufficient.

Egadi on catamaran  
It is the first time I have been on a catamaran: comfort is absolute at the expense of sailing because it is slower. The Egadi on catamaran are beautiful: we were always able to stay at anchor even in shallow depths, with no problems with power, water or batteries. The only flaw was check-in, because we got the boat with a long delay at 7.30 p.m.
