Sailing Aeolian Islands - late season (Sept)  
We have chartered a lot in Australia and many areas ofthe Mediteranean. Last year we chartered a very well maintained Dufour 460 for 5 adults and 2 of our 20 something children - and had a fabulous holiday; the islands all had an amazing different character - Lipari , Salina , Panarea and - well worth a visit if not to windy to Filicudi Mooring field. Marenauta were super helpful and we will definately charter again through them.

Sailing among the Aeolian Islands  
Overall good; the boat was in good condition, cleanliness not optimal but still sufficient. We purchased quite a few extras from the charter company, not least transfer to and from the airport etc. Unfortunately we broke the stern shower fitting and as is right we compensated the company for it. What I did not much appreciate was the company's insistence on charging us the catalogue price of €220+VAT (clearly nobody pays catalogue price — generally companies have 40% to 50% discount) when the same part could be found online for €110. Considering the whole holiday and the money we spent they could have been more flexible and we would certainly have chartered the boat from them again for another trip to the Aeolian Islands. In the end we settled at €175 cash..... A shame for this inconvenience; they proved very determined to get as much as possible straight away without building customer loyalty. After all if they had come down another €25 (we are talking about €25!!) we would have been happy and the review would have been excellent across the board.

Boat without refrigerator  
Although I had explicitly requested a check of the refrigerator functioning (see attached email), which should have contained medicines, the fridge never worked. I spent hours with a technician in Lipari without solving the problem and the result was a ruined holiday chasing anyone who could give us ice at every landing. I add the bow thruster not working, but advertised on the boat, and the cockpit light not working replaced with a bulb that was completely insufficient.

Egadi on catamaran  
It is the first time I have been on a catamaran: comfort is absolute at the expense of sailing because it is slower. The Egadi on catamaran are beautiful: we were always able to stay at anchor even in shallow depths, with no problems with power, water or batteries. The only flaw was check-in, because we got the boat with a long delay at 7.30 p.m.
