First of all, it is important to know that Mr. Damiano is a member of the crew and not the skipper with whom we have always dealt. The skipper is Mr. Roberto, to whom we have charged €396.00 for damage caused by them and therefore not paid. We are convinced that we also have our reasons, so we will answer point by point:
As is customary, the boat booked for two weeks in Alghero by Mr. Roberto was professionally inspected before handover, complete with all legally required equipment and with a joint check at embarkation; during the charter Mr. Roberto never reported any missing equipment.
In the first hours of sailing the charterer reported the absence of the mainsail halyard; this turned out to be a misunderstanding later clarified with the base manager, as the mainsail halyard on board was confused with the bridle, which is not present on this boat as it is fitted with a rigid spring vang that does not require the use of a bridle.
On 19 July, while the boat was sailing from Stintino towards Isola Rossa (and therefore from north-east to north-west of Sardinia), the assistance service was contacted by Mr. Roberto, who reported a malfunction of the boat's autopilot; after the appropriate checks, a malfunction of the signal repeater (feedback) was suspected. We promptly contacted the Garmin electronics specialists on board, who indicated the possibility of an intervention by one of their technicians at the port of Palau.
We agreed with Mr. Roberto on the terms of the intervention and put the technician and the skipper in contact so they could coordinate the most suitable timing, given that the boat was sailing in northern Sardinia.
We were not informed in the service request of the intention to continue sailing towards Oristano; in that case the intervention would have been carried out in Alghero (a convenient transit point towards Oristano) and not in Palau.
We confirm that the skipper and the technician agreed for general convenience on the intervention for Thursday morning when they got in touch.
No other report on the matter was made to us by the skipper/charterer during the two weeks of the charter.
We are truly sorry for the negative feedback; we strive to work professionally in order to satisfy our clients.
