All good but...  
A lucky week in the end, with strong scirocco winds the first three days gradually shifting; nice passages to and from Portoferraio and a few trips north of the beautiful island of Elba when the winds allowed. Thanks to my crew, my beloved sea, the wind that was kind, and the splendid nature that characterizes the entire Tuscan archipelago! Boat in good condition (almost new) but very poorly maintained. Our tolerance at check-in was not reciprocated with courtesy at check-out. Let's be clear: not that tolerance was needed for me and my crew, but if you return a boat cleaner than you found it (it wouldn't have taken much) you expect at least punctuality and courtesy. The superficiality of the check-in operations clashed with the surprising meticulousness of the check-out; fortunately, photos and videos taken at departure helped.

Too many defects  
The Delphia 40 itself sails well even in light wind and we managed to sail almost all the time. The problem is maintenance that leaves much to be desired both on deck and below. The steering wheel, for example, is not stable; in the cockpit there is not even a pocket for the handles with the risk of losing them during navigation. The jib sheets are very worn; the anchor is small and not suited to this boat, also having a small and light chain. The kedge anchor is larger — so much so that on two occasions at anchor overnight with a bit of wind we had to deploy both to avoid dragging. At least two portlights have broken seals and therefore do not close airtight. The outboard on the tender also had problems with the pull-start belt and we had to dismantle and fix it. Despite everything the boat, which has its years, sails well but requires a bit of adaptability and few expectations from those who charter it. Nothing to say instead about the kindness (and understanding) of Brando both on arrival and departure
