It worked out, room for improvement  
The Sun Odyssey 44i is fundamentally in good condition for its age. The furling system on the jib is catastrophically bad — practically unusable and urgently needs to be replaced! You have to winch from the start. The traveler is also very sluggish. Fuel gauge is very inaccurate — we barely motored at all, but paid €170 for the tank; the previous tenant certainly did not fill it up — cheeky. Charter company Pianeta is nice, good communication via WhatsApp — however very unprofessional in handling a small damage we caused (small tear in the lazy bag). Batteries urgently need to be replaced, immediate voltage loss as soon as shore power is disconnected and the fridge is still on. There is no holding tank. Price-performance of the yacht: poor. Nice small marina, you can also park for free 10min away, very nice staff, many private yachts and no large charter companies, which we liked. Great sailing area, we'd gladly come again. We were 7 people, the yacht suited us well.

Room for improvement  
Staff were very cordial and available; however I was a bit upset about the difference in diligence between check-in and check-out. Very rushed check-in; they tell me the fuel gauge does not show full and that when at 3/4 it equals full; water tanks also had broken gauges and they know the boat has defects. They did not check (and mea culpa, neither did I) the gas bottles; both ran out so we had to return in the morning to get new ones, having dinner with snacks. At return I discover instead that the fuel gauge works fine, and therefore I refilled the missing fuel at my expense; a thorough sail check is done (not done at departure) and other checks will be done after we left, from which at the cleaning company's complete discretion they want extra payment because the boat was too dirty (we cleaned dishes, galley, kept things as tidy as possible and emptied all rubbish). After a discussion they charge me only half the extra cost, but still not nice to have the discussion on Monday after delivering the boat on Saturday. Boat equipment very prohibitive. Windlass not adequate for the anchor struggles to hoist it aboard (spear anchor) The mainsail could only be hoisted with the winch reduction gear, and in general all maneuvers were jammed.

A lovely week of sea and sailing....  
It was a wonderful week of sea and sailing, setting out from Marina di Salivoli and sailing as far as the Strait of Bonifacio, Caprera, La Maddalena and southern Corsica. The weather was not always kind and it was cold for the month but.... plenty of sea and plenty of sailing.

Booking went fairly well, I had asked for the Corsican flag and nautical charts, they assured me, but they didn't give them to me. Apart from this everything ok, even the early check in. Boat ok, even if quite old. Reliable, but we reported problems with the fridge.

Excellent boat very comfortable, good onboard equipment. Pianeta Mare staff friendly, very helpful and competent. Pity for a bit of delay in check in/out management and some signs of wear/malfunctions on the boat (even though new! 2025) due however to carelessness of previous renters.
