Yacht charter Ionian Islands

The Ionian Islands, also known as Eptanese, are spread below one another, along the western coast of Mainland Greece. There are thirty islands and islets, of which, however, only 9 are inhabited and only seven known to tourists. All islands (except the island of Kythira, which is located south of the Peloponnese), face to South Italy in the Ionian Sea. The Ionian Islands have been occupied for over 400 years by the Venetians and unlike the rest of Greece were never conquered by the Ottomans. The footprints left by the Venetians, in spite of the terrible earthquakes that occurred in later years, are still very visible. Among the most violent, we remember the one in 1953 that leveled down the entire town of Kefalonia and the island of Zakynthos. The Ionian Islands have wonderful lush vegetation. In fact, thanks to the often very wet winters, all the islands are covered with vast extenses of cypress and olive trees, which often reach the beaches. All the islands have beautiful beaches and turquoise waters. Some islands such as Corfu, Kefalonia and Zakynthos, have excellent tourist infrastructure and lots of fun. Paxi, Ithaki, Lefkada and Kythira islands are quieter, and are particularly recommended for lovers of relax.
