Everything ok except the Skipper  
Unfortunately the holiday was negatively affected by the behaviour of skipper LUCA (provided by the charter company) who even went so far as to address one of us with the phrase "... but what the ***** do you want...". Beyond this episode which obviously represented the peak of negativity, throughout the holiday he proved surly, overbearing and unsociable, as well as dangerously presumptuous about his mooring skills — after stating in the initial briefing that during mooring (both in harbour and at anchor) he would do everything himself and we had to stay strictly seated in the cockpit or below deck, once in Ventotene harbour during the mooring manoeuvre he suddenly started shouting asking us to go to the port side because we were about to collide with another moored boat. Such behaviour is absolutely deplorable because, having given no prior instructions on what was to be done, calling for intervention in an emergency situation — easily foreseeable — means exposing each of us to the risk of injury!!! In my previous experiences the skipper always gave each of us instructions from the outset on what we had to do when docking in harbour so as to be ready for emergency situations like the one above. In conclusion I consider Mr LUCA absolutely UNSUITED for the role of charter skipper!!!

A week in the Aeolian Islands on the Lagoon 42  
Seven days in the Aeolian Islands on the Lagoon 42, and it went very well even with the weather, good wind almost every day, no days lost. The boat is appreciated for its space and stability at anchor, but it is not designed to sleep ten. The saloon sofas are comfortable to sit on but uncomfortable as beds. I recommend it without doubt, just avoid loading too many people on board.

It was a beautiful holiday, I don't deny it, but unfortunately there was a fault with the generator and one with the watermaker right from the first night. the impossibility of producing fresh water forced us to severely limit consumption on board and to modify the cruise program to return repeatedly to Lipari in order to refuel with water, although this stop was not planned twice in the original itinerary. To the discomfort resulting from the lack of air conditioning was added the much more significant one, linked to the loss of time actually available for sailing and for the holiday itself. Due to the problem with the generator we in fact remained stopped for the first time in Lipari for about half a day, from the morning until past lunchtime, and subsequently we were forced to return to port again where we lost another day. I would like to underline that the crew demonstrated great professionalism, availability and collaborative spirit and that we do not in any way attribute the responsibility for the situation to them. On the contrary, we believe they did everything in their power to limit the impact of the problem. However, the fact remains that the service actually enjoyed is significantly different from what was proposed and purchased.
